Our Story

Welcome to River Oaks

More Than an RV Park. A Destination.

Hello and thanks for visiting our website! If you’re searching for RV parks near Des Moines, you’ve come to the right place. We’re a family-owned campground located in Hartford, Iowa, just 20 minutes southeast of Des Moines. Formerly Webb’s RV Park, it was originally founded in 1977 by Dale Webb. Dale bought 43 acres of timber and pasture and over the course of 45 years he and his wife Linda built the park into what it is today; a beautiful property filled with hardwood trees and great amenities.

Kristen and I have always loved camping and the outdoors. We’ve owned multiple RVs over the years and can’t wait for this new adventure and to continue what Dale and Linda started almost half a century ago. If you’re looking for RV parks near Des Moines, you’ve found the right place. Our campground is a top choice for families and outdoor enthusiasts alike. Thanks again for visiting, we hope to see you at the park! Derek, Kristen, William, Nora, and Moose.
Whether you’re staying with us for a weekend or a longer getaway, our campground provides a peaceful, scenic retreat. We offer a range of modern amenities, including full-hookup RV sites, a playground for kids, and beautiful wooded areas perfect for hiking or relaxing in nature. We are proud to provide our guests with a memorable and comfortable camping experience.

Beautiful spacious RV park. Stayed 6 months over winter. Ferrell gas does drop propane tanks here so nice for winters. Also no other rv parks in general area stay open during winter contrary to what websites might say. At about 30 % full had good water and electric ok (normally 123v but in extreme cold dropped as low as 112v on leg 1/ sewer ok but might encounter sewer flys while warmer (october did a bit). Very nice laundry / rec center / bathouse. Long termers around lake with alot of travelling workers. The only real drawback is 2 miles of dirt/gravel county road to park from the highway. Vehicles either dust inidated or muddy and washboarded depending wet to dry but thats not in control of park. Also note USPS does not deliver to guests here and either holds at post office and had a mail letter returned to sender. Walmart, Amazon, UPS, fedex etc. all deliver fine to box at office outside container. All in all we would happily stay here again as it is a nice park and manager is very nice.

This place is very peaceful with nice lots that are well taken care of. Love all the trees and space. The community center is a fun place to go and clean laundry room.

Tina was great, getting us in after hours.

Park is extremely secluded and very quiet, it is 3 miles down a gravel road so you will need to wash your vehicle afterwards but it’s a trade off I’m willing to make for such a nice park

We came for our daughter's last baby shower. We had a great time. I want to thank Knot Working Tiny Houses for being right where you are. I had looked up a KOA and your spot came up first. You aren't a KOA, but your tiny houses are remarkable. Everything was so clean and quiet. We stayed 3 nights and it was some of the best rest we have had. If you stay here, you must visit the Cathedral Caverns. It was fantastic. You need more people able to come there that do videos and really show your place off.

I enjoyed camping here! Tina was super kind and when I was first arriving I called to make sure where I needed to go, she sent me where I needed to go on a map she drew herself! The location was beautiful and made me feel comfortable! Camping in a tent in so nostalgic for me and getting the opportunity to experience that again here made me extremely happy! Next time I am curious about the hut looking things for family's I believe! 🙂

It's a nice quiet place with a great view of the des Moines river with access to the river, and I like to walk and there are trails that go down by the river so that's good, and the shower rooms and laundry room are kept clean, overall a decent place.
